City Wide Garage Sales!

We will be selling our Book Nook books for only $2/bag and a few other items during Wellman's City-Wide Garage Sales the weekend of May 7th.  We have so many great titles, be sure to stop by the library and check them out!

We are so thankful to live in such a great community.  A huge thank you to all the businesses, groups, and individuals who have contributed to our Summer Reading Program.  This great program would not be possible without your support!  Be on the look out for"Proud Supporter of On Your Mark, Get Set...Read!" signs around the community.

Remember to sign up and join us for this years Summer Reading Program.  It will be 8 weeks filled with fun activities, crafts, and most importantly good books!  You can sign up anytime beginning May 1st. 

Check Out our Children's Computer

Recently, we've added a children's computer to our Children's Area.  It has access to games and education resources online such as PBS Kids Go, ACB Ya, and a subscription to ABC Mouse.  Bring your little ones in and try it out!

Ready For Warmer Weather

Last year, our air conditioning system decided to retire itself.  It made for a very warm last few months before the cooler fall weather began.  Thankfully, we are ready for the heat this year with our brand new air conditioning system! 

Kids Coloring

Did you know, we have a table set up in our children's area with a variety of pages for them to color?  Kids love working on their coloring pages while mom or dad look for a great new book to read. 

Occasionally, we are gifted with their colorful creations,  Such a great present to brighten our day!

A Great National Library Week

We've had such a great week filled with learning about the library, scavenger hunts, games, and more! Thank you to all the students from WE for helping us celebrate National Library Week!!

Still Looking For Donations

Summer is coming and we are busy getting prepped for all the great activities we have planned.  We are still looking for 12 pack can boxes so we can create our Giant Pop Box Jenga.  We will be covering them in plain paper, so they don't have to look pretty.  They would just need to be structurally sound.  If you have any, please drop them by the library anytime during business hours.

We are also still looking for individual sized yogurt lids for crafts.

National Library Workers Day

Today, we're celebrating the amazing staff we have here at WSPL.  Our director, Carol, works hard keeping the library going, organizing events, staying on top of ordering great new books to our collections, and so much more.  Our assistant director, Carrie, keeps busy cataloguing books, prepping them to go out on the shelves, keeping up with our social media and website, and has been working hard on our remodel.  Our children's librarian, Sandy, keeps up with all of our Inter Library Loans, reading to Sunrise Daycare each week, and taking care of our patrons.  Our clerk, Allison, works hard assisting patrons, making sure our new books get out on the shelves, and assisting with office work.  Our library wouldn't be the same without each of these great women.  Thank you all for your hard work!

Our Work Area

At long last, we were finally able to get our logo on the wall of our work area.  We love how it turned out!!  It's a great pop of color.  It also helps tie our logo and colors into our new decor.

Opening Up Some Room to Play

We've been busy rearranging and improving our shelves.  In the process, we were able to take out the bins in the children's area.  Below is an image of the children's area before.  You can see now how the children's area is now more open and inviting.  We love it! 

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

We are proud supporters of 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten.  We know it sounds daunting, but remember each children's book only take a few minutes to complete.  The benefits of reading to your children are so great.  Reading to your children builds their bond with you, builds and expands their language skills, improves their communication skills, enhances their concentration and teaches patience, and so many other positive developmental benefits.  It also teaches your children that reading is fun!
